National Instruments PCI-5411 Waveform Generator Device
The PCI-5411 is a high-speed Waveform Generator Device developed by National Instruments. The PCI-5411 device works on the principle of the DDS method for signal generation. This device supports real-time system integration (RTSI). The PCI-5411 can be synchronized with external clocks through the PLL method. This device also features waveform linking and looping.
The PCI-5411 Waveform Generator Device has one 12-bit analog output channel. This output channel is DC-coupled. The maximum frequency of the PCI-5411 device is 16 MHz for TTL waveform output. The maximum frequency for square, ramp, and triangle signals is 1 MHz. The PCI-5411 Waveform Generator Device has a frequency resolution of 9.31 MHz in DDS mode. The resolution of the DDS accumulator is 32 bits. The sampling rate of the output channel is up to 40 MS/sec. The PCI-5411 has two selectable options for output impedance. These options are 50 Ω nominal or 75 Ω high impedance. The voltage output depends upon the selected impedance value. The voltage output of the PCI-5411 is +5V or +10V respectively.
The PCI-5411 Waveform Generator Device can generate both FM and AM waveforms. The FM waveform is created in a DLL. The AM waveform is created using a simple amplitude modulation equation. The PCI 5411 is controlled using the built-in software or the NI-FGEN driver software. The built-in software is VirtualBench-FG or VirtualBench-ARB soft front panel software. To use NI-FGEN, an application development environment is required. The NI PCI-5411 supports various ADEs, including: LabVIEW, VB, or any C/C++ environment.
PCI-5411 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
