Frequently Asked Questions for Visitors

All of the seller contact information is included with their listings. You can contact a dealer using the provided information, or use the Request form to send an email to the dealer.

Open the ad and use the provided form for price quotes to send an email to the seller. You can request a quote and request details about the item. You can request quotes from multiple sellers at once using the Request Cart.

The Request Cart is a tool for contacting more than one seller at a time. It is similar to the shopping cart found in many websites, except that it holds items you want to ask about, not items you are ready to purchase. You can then send several Requests in one click, in printer-friendly format.

If you prefer to contact the sellers of various listings with a single message, use the Request Cart:

• Click Add to Cart to send an item to the Request Cart.
• After you have finished adding items to your Request Cart, click Request Cart on the top menu bar to review. All the items in your Request Cart can be viewed above the message text box and your contact information. If you wish, you can remove items before you send your message.
• After editing your Request Cart, click Submit. The seller of each item in your Request Cart will receive an email from you.

To check and edit the contents of your list, click Request Cart on the top menu bar.

Yes. Save your contact information the first time you send a Quote Request and it will be inserted automatically each time you send an Request in the future.

To save your contact information, select the checkbox in the form or in the Request Cart, then click Submit.

For a list of dealers within a certain location and/or who have specific expertise:

• Click the Dealer Directory to open it.
• On the left side of the page, choose your sectors by selecting Test & Measurement, General Lab, or Semiconductor. (You can select more than one.)
• If you wish, use the filters on the left side of the page to select Location and Services. The dealer list will update automatically to include only those dealers that match your choices.

• In Services, select Manuals.
  A list of dealers who sell manuals will be displayed.

• Choose a Location.
• In Services, select Rentals.
  A list of dealers who rent equipment in your region will be displayed.

  A list of dealers who repair equipment in your region will be displayed.

  An additional filter, Brands, opens up underneath, Services.
• Select a manufacturer name.
  A list of dealers in your region who sell new equipment from the manufacturer you chose will be displayed.

Yes, private and occasional sellers are welcome to list equipment on Used-Line. You can purchase ad slots online for $10 a month each, with a maximum of 5 slots. If you wish to purchase more than 5 ad slots, please contact us.

Click Sell on the Home Page and complete the four steps required to place your ad:

• In the For Occasional Sellers block, select the number of ad slots you would like to purchase at a cost of $10 per month each.
• Click Buy Now.
• You will be requested to register with Used-Line. If you are already a Used-Line Member, you can log in, and click Buy Now again.
• You will be taken to a secure payment page and can enter your payment information. Click Process.
• Enter the text of your ad

Note: For the first month you will be charged only for the number of days of the month that remain.

If this is the first time you are using this feature, you will need to enter your information to register as a seller (Step 2). Please include your complete contact information with full name and address. You can update your information and your ads at any time in MY UL.

Edit your ad to be as effective and impactful as possible, and upload photos. Used-Line will supply stock photos and specifications for thousands of Test Equipment models, but engaging text and an actual photo is always more effective.

Please do not include your contact information in the body of the listings. Listings with contact information included in the ad text will be deleted.

Yes and no. The Used-Line Watchlist is special. Typically, when you find a wishlist on a website, you use it to store items that you are considering purchasing. Then you can come back to the site and easily find the items that interest you.

You can do this and much more with the feature-rich Used-Line Watchlist.

The Used-Line Watchlist stores items for you, but lets you do much more. You can also follow items defined by your choices.

Here’s what you can do with the Used-Line Watchlist:

• Store items to come back to. Follow a particular model, then receive updates about listings featuring this model.
• Follow a particular dealer then receive updates whenever the dealer makes a change to his listings.
• Follow the products of a particular manufacturer, then receive updates whenever a change is made to listings of this brand.
• Store listings by category, then receive updates when changes occur in this category.
• Enter a search term that will prompt the system to send you an update whenever a change occurs on the website that matches your search term.
• Add items to your Watchlist from multiple locations on the Used-Line website, as well as from within your Watchlist itself!

There are no restrictions to variations in the types of items or the number of items you can list. You can add individual listings to your Watchlist, and you can follow lists of products based on category, seller, brand, or model number all at the same time. As well, by adding a search term to your Watchlist, you cover all bases! By being able to include a list of products as an item in your Watchlist, this means that your Watchlist items don’t just sit there – you can get updates to any changes in the lists you have entered. If you wish, you can even be updated when there are NO changes!

• Go to any product ad on Used-Line by browsing in the Equipment Listings tab or searching from the Search Equipment box.
• Click Add to Watchlist to add an item to your Watchlist. The Add to Watchlist button is available on listing pages or inside an ad when you click through to view the ad details.
• To view items you have added to your Watchlist, click the Watchlist bell-shaped icon, which you can find near the top of any page on Used-Line. After logging in, your Watchlist opens with all the items you have added inside the appropriate tab for individual items, lists, and searches you conducted.
• In the Interval column next to your item, select from the drop-down list how often you would like to be updated about changes made to the item you have added. You can select to be updated every day, once a week, or once a month. You can choose different Intervals for each of your items or lists.

Aside from checking your Watchlist, you can arrange to get emails from the Watchlist system whenever changes are made to items you are following.

You can also arrange to get emails if there have been no changes.

• Click Watchlist in the top right side of any page on Used-Line. If you are not logged into Used-Line, you will be requested to do so.
• Click Settings in the top right corner of your Watchlist.
• Select Email notification to receive an email each time a change is made to an item in your Watchlist.
• If you wish, you can also select Email when no changes occur.
• Click Save.

When you follow lists of products, each list appears in your Watchlist as a single item in your Watchlist. You receive updates at intervals you choose whenever there are changes in the lists you are following.

Examples

The following two examples show different scenarios in which your Watchlist can help you follow and find what you need.

Example 1: Your busy work environment sees a large turnover of equipment and you are frequently looking to purchase more. Right now, you are in the market for a number of products that you think you will be required for your customers in the near future. You typically purchase your equipment from a specific dealer. You don’t want to be checking his listings all the time but would like to be notified when he updates his offerings on Used-Line. How can you easily follow this dealer’s products?

To keep track of a dealer’s products on Used-Line, enter the dealer into your Watchlist:

• Click Watchlist in the top right side of any page on Used-Line. If you are not logged into Used-Line, you will be requested to do so.
• Choose the List tab.
• In the drop-down list in the first box, change Model to Dealer.
• In the Find Dealer box, start typing the name of the dealership you want to follow. Select the dealer from the options of names that come up while you type.
• In the Interval column, select from the drop-down list how often you would like to be updated about changes made by the dealer you have chosen. You can select to be updated every day, once a week, or once a month.
• Click Save. If there are any changes in your dealer’s listings, you will be updated at the end of the interval you chose, starting from now.
• If you wish, you can select another dealer to follow using the same or a different interval, or you can select a Model, Manufacturer, or Category list to follow.

NOTE: You can also follow a particular dealer’s products by choosing the dealer from the Dealer Directory, selecting to view more about the dealer, and viewing all his listings. Click the blue “Click to add this list to your Watchlist” button to add this dealer’s product list to your Watchlist.

Example 2: From time to time, you need to replenish your instrumentation but are particular about sticking to a certain brand of equipment because of required supported modules, mainframes, and various options. You don’t like to wait until the eleventh hour, so would like to follow this Brand’s equipment on Used-Line.

To keep track of the products of a particular manufacturer on Used-Line, enter the brand into your Watchlist:

• Click Watchlist in the top right side of any page on Used-Line. If you are not logged into Used-Line, you will be requested to do so.
• Choose the List tab.
• In the drop-down list in the first box, change Model to Manufacturer.
• In the Find Manufacturer box, start typing the name of the manufacturer you want to follow. Select the manufacturer from the options of names that come up while you type.
• In the Interval column, select from the drop-down list how often you would like to be updated about changes made by the manufacturer you have chosen. You can select to be updated every day, once a week, or once a month.
• Click Save. If there are any changes in the listings of equipment of this brand, you will be updated at the end of the interval you chose, starting from now.
• If you wish, you can select another manufacturer to follow using the same or a different interval, or you can select a Model, Dealer, or Category list to follow.

NOTE: You can also track the products of a particular manufacturer by choosing first to browse Equipment Listings By Manufacturer. After selecting the manufacturer you want, click the blue “Click to add this list to your Watchlist” button to add the product list of this manufacturer to your Watchlist.

Yes, if you don’t find exactly what you need when you initially search for an item, you can actually place your search term in your Watchlist so that you can be notified if there are any updates to the website that match the search term you entered. This is particularly useful if you are looking for recent additions to the equipment market, or on the other end of the spectrum, difficult-to-find older equipment.

To keep track of any items on Used-Line that match a search term you choose:

• Click Watchlist in the top right side of any page on Used-Line. If you are not logged into Used-Line, you will be requested to do so.
• Choose the Search tab.
• In the Type search field, enter your search term.
• In the Interval column, select from the drop-down list how often you would like to be updated about changes made to the search results of the term you chose. You can select to be updated every day, once a week, or once a month.
• Click Save. If there are any changes in the results of a search on the term you entered, you will be updated at the end of the interval you chose, starting from now.
• If you wish, you can select another search term to follow using the same or a different interval.

NOTE: You can also track the results of a particular search term by choosing first to search Used-Line with this term. At the top of the search results, click the blue “Click to add this list to your Watchlist” button to add your search to your Watchlist.
