National Instruments PXI-6551 PXI Digital Waveform Instrument
The NI PXI-6551 (Part Numbers: 778538-01, 778538-02, 778538-03, and 188524K-24L) is a PXI Digital Waveform Instrument. This instrument can be utilized as a part of computerized applications as a practical trial of memory chips and bidirectional communication. The individual PXI-6551 part numbers have different memory choices. Part number 778538-01 has 1 Mb/channel, part number 778538-02 has 8 Mb/channel, and part number 778538-03 has 64 Mb/channel. With the NI Digital Waveform Editor, an intelligent software tool for making and altering digital waveforms, the user can import existing test patterns from popular spreadsheets and VHDL simulation packages in ASCII or value change dump (VCD) formats. Once imported in, the user can see the waveforms graphically and alter them interactively for new gadgets or new test conditions. In addition, the user can construct new waveforms with built-in patterns, such as pseudorandom bit sequences (PRBS) and count up/down patterns. When the user is prepared to test their gadget, the waveforms import seamlessly into NI LabVIEW, LabVIEW SignalExpress, and C. The Digital Waveform Editor is incorporated with the 8 and 64 Mbit/channel memory models and is a separate add-on for use with the 1 Mbit/channel model. The device is equipped with 20 channels, and has a maximum clock rate of 50 MHz.
The NI PXI 6551 utilizes the same SMC architecture as the NI-5122 high-resolution digitizers and NI-5441 arbitrary waveform generators, so the user can join these gadgets to fabricate tightly synchronized mixed-signal prototyping and test frameworks. For tight timing prerequisites, these PXI modules phase-lock to the 10 MHz reference clock on the PXI backplane. If the user has an outer exactness reference, they can import it through the front board SMB connector. The device has a maximum power requirement of 26.5 W.
The Driver Software of the NI PXI-6551 Digital Waveform Instrument incorporates the NI-HSDIO driver with an instinctive, effective API in view of IVI rules. The Windows-compatible NI-HSDIO driver gives an API to LabVIEW, LabVIEW SignalExpress, LabWindows/CVI, and other content-based development environments.
PXI-6551 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the instrument will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
