Fluke 5220A Transconductance Amplifier
Amplifiers are ideal when used for electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing, cell phones, microwaves, radio communications, and other such applications.
The Fluke 5220A Transconductance Amplifier lets you calibrate AC or DC meters and shunts and the current functions of DMM's that measure up to 20 Amps. The input voltage of 1 to 20 volts via the front panel banana jacks produces a known output current of 1 to 20A.
Alternatively, the 5220A is commonly configured with Fluke 5100B via rear panel cabling. In this configuration, the 5220A is directly controlled via the 5100 keypad as one integrated system. The rear panel interface and cabling are available separately. (see the additional accessories tab)
The 5220A may also be used with a current coil to calibrate clamps and clamp meters above its rated 20A output.
Features:
The Fluke 5220A transconductance amplifier lets you calibrate alternating or direct current meters and shunts, and the current functions of digital multimeters that measure up to 20A.
The 5220A is designed to be controlled by a 5700A or 5100 Series B calibrator but can be driven by another voltage source such as the 5200A. When used with a 5100 Series B, the current range of those instruments is extened by a factor of 10 to 1.
Protection is designed in to eliminate problems caused by excessive inputs, open inputs, and overcompliance. Indicators on the front panel inform the user about any of these conditions. Automatic shutdown occurs if the internal temperature rises excessively.
Drive voltage to the 5220A can be introduced through the front panel of the rear panel. The connector on the rear allows the 5220A to become an extension to the current range of a 5700A or 5100 Series B calibrator. The two instruments operate as one integrated calibration system with all the advantages of single control point calibration.
A 5100 Series B calibrator requires a Y5000 interface/buffer to control a 5220A. A single Y5000 interface/buffer may also be used to control a 5205A power amplifier.
GPIB and RS-232 options are available.
