TEST GENERATOR The Tektronix / Sony MTG-100 generates MPEG-2 transport streams for circuit design evaluation and conformance testing of compressed digital video products. This instrument provides storage and playback of MPEG-2 transport streams compliant with the ATSC, DVB and ARIB standards. With the MTG100, any transport stream can be looped with real-time update of all timestamps, continuity counters, and time tables. And it includes a PC software program that allows remote PC control of stream generation Start/Stop, output stream selection, and recall of user presets.The MTG-100 also features truly seamless transport streams for long term playout. The worldwide transition from analog to digital television demands the design and manufacture of a complete range of new professional and consumer products. These include transmission equipment, consumer set-top boxes, mulitplexers and professional integrated receiver decoders (IRDs). Manufacturers need a source of compressed digital signals to design and test such products to ensure compliance with MPEG-2, the standard selected for digital television worldwide. Other applications requiring a source of test signals include the evaluation and commissioning of MPEG-2 transmission chains and maintenance of compression systems.
