National Instruments PXI-8184 PXI Controller

Featured with a Watchdog Timer, an 850 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, and 128 MB RAM, the National Instruments PXI-8184 (Part Numbers: 778824-01, 778824-02, 778824-00) is an Embedded PXI Controller designed to be used in any CompactPCI or PXI system. This Controller offers a high-performance, compact PC platform for modular instrumentation. This Controller can be considered for a broad range of applications. With its industrial, rugged packaging, the NI PXI-8184 is ideally suited for deployment in severe environments. In addition, the low cost of this Controller makes it a suitable option for the deployment of multiple run-time PXI systems.

The National Instruments PXI-8184 comes equipped with a collection of various standard and extended PC peripherals in one unit. Thus, it can preserve active PXI slots for other measurement modules. This one-piece, rugged Controller’s design eliminates the need for complicated cabling to peripheral boards and minimizes integration issues. The NI PXI 8184 comes equipped with an external SMB connection that can be used as a watchdog timer, trigger input, or trigger output. The user can utilize the external SMB to pass timing and trigger signals to and from the PXI trigger bus in a PXI based system.

This Controller incorporates Intel`s Dynamic Memory Video Technology to provide the user with an excellent graphics and memorable experience through Direct AGP and highly efficient memory. The Super VGA provided with this Controller can deliver up to 11 MB of SDRAM when operated with polygon intensive applications and offers resolutions of 1280 x 1024 at 24-bit color or 1600 x 1200 at 256 colors.

PXI-8184 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
