National Instruments cRIO-9014 CompactRIO Controller

The cRIO-9014 (Part numbers: 779564-01 and 779564-02) is a CompactRIO Controller developed by National Instruments. This model is used to control and monitor C Series applications. The cRIO-9014 incorporates several ports for various connections. These ports include USB, Ethernet, and a serial communication terminal. The Controller cannot be connected with the C Series devices directly because no such slot is available. However, the NI cRIO-9014 can be interfaced with the C Series device through an extension, which would be a compatible CompactRIO Chassis. The embedded file system of the cRIO-9014 is fault-tolerant which ensures that logged data does not get corrupted due to any reason. Thus, reliable data logging is ensured. The difference between the two cRIO-9014 part numbers is that part number 779564-02 has a conformal coating.

The cRIO-9014 CompactRIO Controller is a rugged device designed to withstand the harsh environment. The processor of the cRIO-9014 has a PowerPC type core. The frequency of the processor is 400 MHz. The supported networks for the interface are 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet. The Controller can communicate at the rates of 10 MB per second and 100 MB per second. The cRIO-9014 features an RS-232 terminal for serial communication. The serial port supports a baud rate up to 115,200 bps. This model also has a USB port, which can sustain up to 500 mA current. The data can be transferred at a maximum speed of 12 Mb per second through the USB port. There is a nonvolatile memory of 2 GB. The Controller also has a dynamic RAM with a memory of 128 MB.

The cRIO-9014 CompactRIO Controller features a SMB digital I/O connector with an input voltage in the range of -500 mV to 5.5 V. The supported logic level is 3.3 V.
