National Instruments PXIe‑5663E PXI Vector Signal Analyzer

The PXIe-5663E (Part Numbers: 781259-01, 781260-01, 781259-02, 781260-02, 781339-02, 781339-03, and 781339-04) is a Vector Signal Analyzer from National Instruments. Boasting a frequency range of 10 MHz to 6.6 GHz, the PXIe-5663E is not a singular device- in fact, the model name refers to three distinct modules working together. These modules include an RF Signal Downconverter (the PXIe-5601), a convenient IF Digitizer (the PXIe-5622), and an RF Analog Signal Generator (the PXIe-5652). By synchronizing multiple instruments, the NI PXIe-5663E provides versatile functionality from one convenient location. The onboard FPGA of the analyzer is user-customizable, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of test and measurement applications.

There are plenty of I/O connection options offered by the PXIe-5663E analyzer. The IF Digitizer module is equipped with SMA female connectors for both RF IN and RF OUT applications, and it boasts 16 bits of resolution. The RF Signal Downconverter also utilizes an SMA female connector, for both LO IN and LO OUT. This device allows for AC coupling, and has a nominal impedance of 50 Ω. The final module, the RF Analog Signal Generator, uses SMA female connections for it’s front panel. 

The power requirements of the NI PXIe-5663e is determined by the specifications for the different modules. For a voltage of +3.3 VDC, the RF Signal Downconverter draws a power of 640 mA, while the IF Digitizer draw 1.75 A. The RF Analog Signal Generator of the PXIe-5663e draws in a power of 1.00 A. For a power rail of +12 VDC, the power required for these modules is 740 mA, 2.25 A, and 1.00 A respectively. 

By supporting an instantaneous bandwidth up to 50 MHz and a tuning resolution of 533 nHz, the NI PXIe‑5663E is well suited for applications such as adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) measurements and spurs and harmonics measurements. The device has an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, and a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 71 °C. All together, the NI PXIe‑5663E weighs in at 1,245 g (43.9 oz).
